Women's Basketball

This week, Iowa Lakes Community College announced the signing of Jaeda Whitner of Mason City.

Whitner averaged 10.6 points per game her senior year. She shot 36 percent from the 3 point line and 80 percent from the free throw line. Whitner earned CIML honorable mention all-conference honors. She was also a member of the National Honor Society at Mason City High School.

Iowa Lakes Community College announced the signing of Hailey Miranda of Milwaukee, Wis.

Miranda earned first team all-conference honors at Ronald Regan High School in Milwaukee. She became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. During her senior year she averaged 14 points a game and shot 82% from the free throw line.

Softball

Iowa Lakes Community College Head Softball Coach, Katie Larson, has announced Kaitlin Roundy to the 2020-2021 recruiting class. Kaitlin is the daughter of Cole and Kristin Roundy. She is from Washington, Utah and attends Pine View High School.

An infielder/catcher, Roundy is a four-year starter and letter winner for the Panthers. She is a two-time 1st Team All-Region selection and one-time All-Region Honorable Mention selection. Roundy was also a two-time PVHS team captain, one-time PVHS Most Valuable Player, and one-time PVHS Offensive Player of the Year. In her junior season, Roundy had a .420 batting average. She racked up 21 hits, including six doubles and one homerun. Defensively, Roundy put up a .920 fielding percentage.

Iowa Lakes Softball player Tianna Soto signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at NAIA William Penn University in Oskaloosa. Soto will be studying Athletic Training in the hopes of becoming an Athletic Trainer in the future.

Soto is the daughter of Erika Knoerzer and Manuel Soto. She is from Fontana, Calif., where she was a graduate of Henry J. Kaiser High School. In Soto's senior season, she posted a .529 batting average and earned the Gold Medal Academic award. Junior year she was awarded the Silver Medal Academic award and freshman year earned the GPA Improvement award.

During her first season as a Laker, Soto posted a .428 batting average. She had 24 hits, including three doubles, one triple, and one home run. She had a .441 on-base percentage and a .571 slugging percentage.
